My name is Jesse Fence. I was born and raised in southern Oregon, and reside there still today in the beautiful Siskiyou Mountains with my wife, two dogs and cat.
I've always been drawn to working with metal and stone. I've worked on projects ranging from large scale stone work (walls, patios and driveways) to mine reclamation and have even operated my own small scale mine. I've worked with metal as well and have created artwork and functional pieces. I seem to always have something in my hands that I'm working on.
As my father explored and developed roots to his Native American ancestry, he passed his experiences on to me. From listening to my father, George Fence, speak at events honoring southern Oregon's native tribes to learning crafts from the Native American community and seeing the creation of amazing bead and leather work in my home done by my step-mother, I embraced the culture and tradition.
In 2021 I decided to take my passion for metal and stones to a new level combining my Native American heritage with these interests to create jewelry. My wife and I purchased a piece of property from a family member and went to work doing what we do best, finding deposits! We currently mine our own rock which I use exclusively in my jewelry design.
Each piece of jewelry I create is from the ground up, literally. I develop my ideas through creative thinking and find inspiration in the natural beauty that surrounds me.
I hope you enjoy my journey!
